Winter Care for Hair Extensions in Finnish Climate
Finnish Winter Is an Extension Challenge
Finnish winter is challenging for hair extensions: cold outdoor air, dry indoor air, and constant beanie use strain both extensions and natural hair. With proper care, extensions handle winter well.
The Dry Air Problem
Central heating dries indoor air, which directly affects extensions. Extensions lose moisture faster than natural hair because they don’t receive nutrients from the scalp.
- Use a deep conditioning mask 1–2 times per week
- Apply light hair oil to ends daily
- A humidifier at home also helps your hair
Beanies and Extensions
Beanies cause friction that can tangle extensions. Choose a beanie with smooth material (silk or satin lining is best). Braid hair before putting on a beanie.
Cold Weather and Outdoors
- Don’t go outside with wet hair – it can freeze and break
- Protect extensions with a scarf or under a beanie
- Cold air itself doesn’t damage bonds or tape
Winter Special Care
Book a salon maintenance appointment mid-winter. A professional can assess extension condition and perform necessary treatments before spring.
